Last Minute Teacher Gift - Pencil Candy Jar

6/6/2016

Need a last minute gift for your child's teacher or school support staff?? This cute & fast Pencil Candy Jar took me under an hour to make! Don't want to give candy?? You can also fill it with teacher supplies, flowers, or that perfect little something that your child's teacher will LOVE!!

Here is what you need!
There are only 3 main things needed:
Pencils, a Mason Jar., & Glue

I chose to use a Half Gallon Wide Mouth size mason jar for 2 reasons: 1) the Half Gallon size allowed me to use a full pencil without having to sharpen or cut the pencil smaller - so no sharp edges & a cleaner look & 2) the wide mouth jar has less of a rounded bevel towards the top of the jar - so it allows more surface area to glue your pencils on so they will stay put.

You can choose any type of pencils: No 2, decorative, colored, or even crayons. This is the fun part! Be creative!!

Next, you'll start gluing your pencils to the jar. I found it easier to lay the jar on its side, so I can line up the pencils.
Picture
When positioning your pencils, make sure they are lined up evenly & there is a bit of space at the bottom so the jar's bottom is fully sitting flat.

I chose to use a hot glue gun to glue the pencils just because it is fast!

Keep gluing the pencils around the entire mason jar.

I decided to go a step beyond & decorate each jar with the teachers name! You can also add ribbon, stickers, paint, gems, or any other fun trinkets to add personal touch!

I am a retired teacher and just wanted to say that this is a GREAT idea. I would have loved receiving this --- filled with candy, erasers, personal packs of Kleenex, more pencils or nothing at all. Love your blog. Keep up the good work.

Wooden wine gift boxes are perfect when you want to give multiple bottles of wine or when you want to ship wine to another location. This is one of the safest ways to transport these fragile goods. People love wood wine gift boxes because many of them are decoratively painted and are many times displayed as a work of art.
